yea the battery is connected properly. No offense i'm not an idiot. I was told by someone who ran into this before it might have to do with the starter or the timing between tdc and bdc not being right.

Well alrighty then..
If you're on the right side of the quad, which direction is the starter turning the motor (look at the fan)?
It should be counterclockwise.
I guess it would help if you explained exactly what you did to the motor when you rebuilt it.
You had the stator off?

please post a video. please include details as LT80 has suggested. close ups of the starter and crankshaft and fan will be great while it's "running". please show what all it does while cranking, running, and throttling. please show wiring around battery and the brand of battery. did you use OEM parts for the rebuild? thanks in advance for posting the video. this will help tremendously!

had that problem on a dirt bike one time..ended up being a 1/2 sheared flywheel key..somehow it let it start and run in reverse...it was dangerous hahaha

I suspect the timing but without knowing what all he did, it's just a educated guess.

did you do an complete rebuild? if so then I would check ground and postive battery cable...make sure either is backward...If just top end... not sure then.. did you have the flywheel off or did change ignition parts like flywheel or stator..If changed them then double check flywheel key and the magnets on flywheel see if any have came loose to change the derection of rotation...Thanks good luck
