Default MANUFACTURE DATE vs CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN DATE

The manufacture date is stamped as 26 Jul 2016 - the Certificate of Origin date is 1/3/2017 - - the UTV is supposed to be a 2017 but the Certificate itself says 2016. They are trying to tell me that it is a 2017; is this correct??

As a boat builder, what the number says, it was built in 2016 but it is a 2017 model. If you buy a 2017 automobile, it could have been built in 2016. Actually I never numbered my boats that way, figured it was a gimmick. BTW, I just looked, my 05 Dodge Magnum was built in 04.

I bought my 08 Titan in 07.

Titled as an 08, insured as an 08, obviously made in 07.

Back in the 70's, Toyota was notorious for mid year changes on their cars. Might have a 72 model, but it was made before 6/72, brake pads (most common change) for the same model made in 7/72 would not fit.

I remember when I was a kid and they made a big deal on new car models coming out in August or September.

Not being Suzuki dealers, we had to buy new Suzukis from any dealer who would give us the best discount. One supplier sent us a "new" one with a manufactured date three years previously. When we complained, the next one came with the date rubbed off.

Always remember that if you were looking for a new car, wait till the end of summer when the new models were about to come out for the best deal.

But that was also back when you could order a car with what you did and didn't want on it.

Generally, the manufacture date will be a year ahead. 2018 automobile models are probably out now. Must be one of those states that still doesn't require titles on utvs.
