[QUOTE=LT80;3431980]You are correct, it's flooding while sitting there. A arb cleaning would be in order. I install a on/off valve next to the carb. Shut it off and let it run dry. No more flooding. Also, Ethanol plays a big part in the flooding.
Buy it.
whats your opinion on how the rest of the engine will have faired with this issue? I’m wondering if the bottom end has taken some damage from all the gas getting in and washing the oil away. Is that something I should be concerned with, or since he blows the gas out before starting it should it not be as big of a concern?
Was going to get the hard starting LT80 but found another one that starts with no issues and I like that it’s got holeshots and wheel spacers for a wider stance. The FMF exhaust doesn’t hurt either. All for a pretty fair price too. Any ideas on the year? The owner doesn’t know.
I have 2003 lt80 I bought it a month ago, rode it when I bought it. 3wks later I went out to ride it and Won't crank over. So I Checked battery all good. I used a jumper wire on relay and it cranked over but still didn't start. Bought new spark plug No spark. I made sure the foot brake lever was engaged. I did push the reset button and still nothing. Not sure what it is but I'm thinking some Safety Switch since it don't turn over and no spark. How do I test Ignition key? Kill Switch? Centralia Motorsports told me I couldn't do a resistance check on coil due to CDI/COIL Or please let me know what steps I should take. Thank you
Check the main fuse, if that blows you don't get power to the ignition switch. Check earth wires, a good earth is needed to both engine and frame.
This is a typical LT80 diagram, but they did differ year on year. Early ones didn't have a separate CDI. Not sure this diagram is right as it shows the "starter interlock switch" earthing the CDI and not anything to do with the starter.
Thank you for wiring diagram.I checked fuse under seat all good. I followed wires didn't see know other fuses. I don't see a interlock on mine. It's gonna drive me crazy. I only rode it the day I bought it. I cleaned the carburetor and pulled spark plug and jumped the relay to crank it over and it was spitting gas out like a fire hose. Put on/off valve in fuel line. Thought that it was flooding out. Then I looked for spark and no deal.
so it's gotta be something to do with Starter and Spark.
Starter interlock switch must be the one on the footbrake, as the drawing doesn't show another, As I wrote above, strange that it goes to the CDI rather than the start button circuit though. Failure of that would cut starter, though it has to spark with footbrake off.
