Default 2005 KQ 700 Fl light coming on

Radiator full, fan comes on, but even without fan I’m getting a red light with temp sign and Fl after just a few minutes of normal riding. Can anyone point me in a direction? Bought used and all was good during test ride, but now finding several issues,. This is the worst so far. I’m thinking I’ve been had.
thanks

Probably a faulty temp sensor. The EFI sensor is in the head near the LH side of the throttle body if I remember correctly. Not sure if the fan has a separate sensor, if it has, for them both to be coming on, it could be actual overheating, most likely a thermostat stuck shut, or the water pump impellor dropped off. A blockage in the cooling system is possible, but unlikely. Is the radiator clean on the outside?

This is a used bike I just bought.its not two lights coming on, only one. It’s a red light that has a symbol like a thermometer with FI beside it. I’m assuming it’s a temperature light. I’m waiting for my owner manual, to be sure what that indicator means.
thanks for the response and info

I was referring to both the fan and FI light coming on, can't remember if they have separate sender units, if they are separate, and both come on, the engine is actually getting hot, rather than a faulty sender. The FI light comes on when any fault in the fuel injection system is detected.
