What is wrong with my quad?
#1
Hello and thanks for your time, I'm having an issue with my quad. It's a 2004 Suzuki Eiger 400, it doesn't seem to be getting enough gas into the carburetor, but gas flows through the fuel valve through the tube and into the carb from there I'm not sure what's going wrong. I've cleaned the carb numerous times in hopes of it being a clogged jet, but to my surprise no luck. It'll run for a good while after, but eventually it'll bog down and turn off. After I let it sit for sometime it'll fire up again and repeats the same process over and over again.
I've already replaced the air filter incase it was clogged up badly but still does it. I've tried everything I can think of to try and fix it but nothing seems to be a permanent solution. Please help!

First thing, is the tank vent blocked? If opening the filler cap, when the fault is on provides an instant cure, usually accompanied by a sucking sound. You have found the fault. However the Eiger has a vacuum operated tap. On PRI(me) it lets fuel through all the time, don't leave it on that as the float needle will eventually stick and let fuel fill the airbox and sump, but on RUN and RES the vacuum pipe from the carb/manifold opens the tap. So, if it isn't working properly, could shut the fuel off when running. I suspect though, you will have already tried turning it onto prime when the fault came on. Other possibility, fuel filter clogged. It is on the tap inside the tank and comes out when you remove the tap.

Thanks for the solutions, but I tried all of them and none seemed to have fixed it. I even went as far as ordering a new Carb and it still has the same issue with the new one as well. I've been busy as of late so didn't mess with it too much but I still would like to fix it. If there are any other possible solutions I would greatly appreciate it!

I have had this problem with an Ozark and a big Yamaha and both turned out to be faulty trigger coils on the stator plate. The Ozark was particularly bad to trace as it tested OK when cold and ran fine for maybe 10 min before suddenly stopping. Wait 10min and you were off again as if nothing was wrong. I even got the stator tested by a specialist alternator re-winder, who pronounced it as OK, but finally caught and tested the bike when the fault was on, and got no voltage from the trigger coil. Test for a spark when the fault comes on, if you don't get one, the fault is electrical. Eigers are prone to loose flywheel magnets too, can't remember the early symptoms, but if a magnet jams between stator and flywheel, an awful mess of magnetic shrapnel is the result.
