Well that to my zilla! Its been ported and all so i assume that the timing has been changed on it. Even on the slow 'buildup' stroke when you slowly push through the compresion, every now and then, she pops and throws the kick start back up and if your foot is on it....just hope your wearing your boots hehe. i now do my 'buildup' stroke with the kill switch off then once im ready i connect it again. Luckily for me, the zilla starts second kick every time. most of the time hehe

I like the rear kicking bikes like my motocross bike compared to my forward kicking quad. With the bikes you slowly take lever all the way to the bottom then quickly raise your foot and give it one hell of a kick. With quads you have to start with you knee already bent and that's just plain weird. Oh well just my .02.

Yea, My foot will slip off of my Mojave kickstarter and hit my shin! OUCH!!! Anyway, there are no alternatives to kickstarting on the zilla?

Nope, there are no alternatives, unless you can always park it uphill and bump-start, not very practical. It's not that the Zilla has a bad habit of cracking shins, you just need to know the right spot to start a full kick, and for mine that would be when the lever is at the very top, anything less and you might find yourself wearing a shin splint. It's just a recreational hazard when your piston is the size of a coffee can. Anyone who has every ridden or owned one usually never has any problems, it's just that new guy that hops on and gives it that unsuspecting kick.
