i own an lt500r and was recently at st anthony's. i have a duncan racing air box adapter and ran without the air box lid. could some one tell me what size of main jet they would use and where they would put the needle. i think it cooked it while i was there and now have alot of time to fix it.

any suggestions.

ps, stranded 3ds's at the bottom that couldn't make it back up. myself made it up twice in a row.

I was just there also. I couldent get mine to clean out until I put a 400 main in it. I have the duncan air kit with no air box. My buddy had a 330 in his with the lid off. I talked to another guy and he was running a 480. He said his buddy ran a 280. The guy at the dealer in town told us he ran a 300. Any ways you better just take some plug readings. I had to, to get mine right. Every person I talked to had a different sized jet?

It GREATLY depends on the mods your running (If any)
That's the only way you can compare apples to apples. (What works for you doesn't work for someone with Monster porting, pipe, reeds, blah blah blah..

My Bone stock 500 ran a 430 main in Rexburg with the needle in the middle clip. (No airbox lid)

Best way is to have a big pile of jets to take with you wherever you go, then start rich, and work your way down. (Reading plug & Piston wash)

Rock on!

I see a chance for yet another shameless plug for my site. I put up a bunch of videos of people running up (or TRYING in some cases) Chokecherry and some other spots at St. Anthony. It's good stuff, check it out.

when i was down there brian and his dad actually camped beside us. i also have already been looking at your website alot, some very cool stuff. i wished we saw some cannondales while we were down there though, never have seen one up close yet, as they don't sell any in canada yet.

my last trip up choke cherry on june 7 fused the second piston ring right to the piston and scored the piston abit, as i found out lastnight as i took it apart. but at least i shut it down before it totally detonated. the unfortunate part is when i took it apart it was at the max over bore, so now time for new sleeve.

Thunderlizard (Cool name, BTW) bummer about the ring and sleeve deal.

I have a video or 2 of the Cannibal ripping up Chokecherry and I was impressed to say the least. He was flying up there at Banshee speed.

Maybe this is your excuse to do some more mods while you're in there working on it anyway???

i don't think i am going to touch the bottom end, as it seems very tight, but i think a port and polish is in order as well as a set of delta force 2 reeds. it being our first dune experiance was quite thrilling, a totally different feeling than what we ride up in canada. at the same time i am going to get the stator rewound so that i can run a battery and a fan to keep the rad a little bit cooler.

i think that we are going down every year now for a week. we will have to contact you before we head out and maybe all of us can hook up.

pps the reason i was so happy about stranding 3 ds's at the bottom was because up in canada, the zilla doesn't like any type of snow or ice or water for that matter, and they are always beating or having to pull me out of a snow bank. it was nice to feed a little bit of crow to them!
