Is the eiger 400 4x4 a good machine? I am 6'2" 270" looking to trail ride, hunt, plow and light work around house. I am trying to stay in th $5,000 range. Will this machine even fit a guy my size comfortably? Will it do the work? What problems has there been with the eiger?

I think you'll be happy with it. I'm 6'-2", about 210lbs and have plenty of room and power. The Eiger has proved to be very reliable, powerful, sporty....all the good things you'd want in a quad. With the low range, using it in a pure utility mode will do whatever you want. High range in either 2 or 4wd is just plain fun on the trails.

Bottom line, the Eiger is the best bang for the buck out there. There are quads out there with more gadgets, and some that may be a few mph faster but for 5 grand you get an ultra reliable workhorse that's also a blast to ride.

This is a pretty good bike. The only thing I would suggest is an in line fuel filter ahead of the carb - ours tends to suck in some junk occasionally.

We use both machines for doing GPS surveying of large parcels of land, year round. Needless to say, we see all kinds of conditions from pure muck to snow. The Big Bear is a great bike, too. It is smaller than the Suzuki, not quite as powerful or fast. I probably enjoy driving the Yamaha more, however, because of its smaller size, the 5 speed, and it just feels a little sportier. Plus, we have never had one ounce of trouble with the Bear.

I'm 6'2", 260lb and my Eiger pulls me fine. It will run 56mph on pavement with 26" spidertracs. Great bike...
