Default anyone bought a power tip yet

i see these machined aluminum exhaust tips on e bay for my kodiak 400 , says it improves power and makes it rumble some . i ride my ute like a sport so i am looking for any improvements i can make . i have been away from here for about a year or so but i am back on this site for awhile . i got caught up in gncc / harescramble stuff for awhile and had the fast sport quad thing going but i wised up after getting hurt a few times and moved back to riding utes again . i am still staying with the sports when i want to though . i would just love to ride with penland sometime to see just how fast he is on a 600 pound atv . i am curious because i am thinking of getting into ute racing in about a year probably with a 700 suzuki or 700 prairie . and hopefully someone elses machine .

I had one on my kodiak and am now putting one on my Griz! Sound great, gives it a good rumble. I am not sure about the power, might make a bit of a difference but not much sure does sound like your going better!

Check to ensure it has a spark arrester. The one for the Vinson on Ebay does NOT have an arrester. In my state, you must have one to ride public land. Moreover, it is just smart if you ride in the trees, grass or other flammable areas.

I bought one about a year ago for my 04 Griz, I didn't notice any difference in power as they claimed but it did make it sound better. I just removed the spark arrestor from my stock outlet and put it into the muffler before I installed the tip.

if you want to make it sound real nice get a long 3/8 or 1/2 drill bit and drill about 10 holes in the baffle, it will make it sound real mean. I drilled 21 holes in mine and that is too many.

The spark arrester on my Vinson is welded to the tip. Is that the way it was on your griz? I would have to cut mine off and weld it to the new piece. I'm pretty sure that the current arrester is steel, so welding to aluminum would be tricky.

I'm not interested in sound as much as performance and safety. If there is no noticeable power difference why get one?

The only way to get more power is to rejet- these tips don't do anything but change the sound. By drilling holes in baffle along with a tip you may be able to rejet and get more power. If you plan on putting your spark arrestor back on don't even waste your money on a tip. Why play games for nothing? If you want more power buy a HMF pipe, a uni or K&N filter and a dynojet. There is no cheaper way to get the big gains.
