Tomi,
Are you going to be riding 1250 miles in one trip or what?
The belt gives you all kinds of warning. I am at the 500 mile mark with no signs of belt squeak or trouble. Plus, the belt is about a 10 minute operation to change (check master nyroc's site).
choosing a foreman over a prairie because of the belt is like choosing a model t over a corvette because the corvette has an electric starter.
Ride one, you will understand.
Come, join the dark side...

Teh Kawi is a great bike, wish it came in a plain old auto clutch manual. I have a few freinds with belts, including a grizz, 1 Kawi 650 and a polaris 500, all of wich at some point I ended up towing out of a spot of home all together, hense my dislike for belts. If a cover seal fails or cover gets damaged in the woods, you may not get home under your own power, and the chances of this happening are far greater than the clutch dying on my Forman.
Like I said, other than the belt drives, I would probably get a 650 or a griz.
