Default riding at windy point, Palm Springs?

It's the place directly off the left (or even right) side of the freeway as soon as you get into Beaumont (coming from Corona)? This last Sunday, there wasn't a soul out there and they had a locked gate going across the entrance. We were bummed!

We've only gone there once before, but we loved the area we found a few miles back where there's a wash with shallow water trickling across the whole width, and the trees make a shady canopy over the top as you fly through the water for about a mile or so. It was great! So refreshing on a hot day.
You went to the wrong area. That area is owned by Lang Homes. They have recently sealed off that area (it is in between the 60 and I-10 fwy, where they join). Did you get my PM? This area is still open. The very back is closed off, for the resons that Wileycoyote said. A large open area still exists.

Oh man, you mean the road is too bad to take an RV there? No semi-smooth dirt road even? Or is there some other reason? That stinks. Oh well, so much for those places! We're not going anywhere without the RV.

I'll have to check out that other area in Beaumont soon. Thanks!

It's getting hot here but not too hot to ride. Take the 10 and exit at Date Palm Drive (Cathedral City). Make a left on Date Palm if you are coming from the west or a right turn coming from the east. Go through the stop sign and hang a left in the desert area immediately over the bridge (you'll see somewhat of a dirt road). You need to park at least 100 yards back off of Date Palm because the indians give grant money to the Cat City police to make sure that nobody rides within that first 100 yard area. You can set up camp there and ride or cross Varner to Edom Hill (look for all of the antennas). There are a hundred trails once you get up top. If you look hard enough you can also find some soft sand dune type areas. Not too many people riding now because of the heat but you'll see some riders on the weekends.
