Yes, it was pretty green and nice. The only water I saw was in one area where there was a little track that had been dug out - any of the low lying parts were filled with water. Other than that, everything was pretty dried up.

Doesn't Polaris make a fully automatic quad? But where's the fun in that?! I got rid of my 250EX and got the 400EX because even the semi-automatic was too boring, not to mention the suspension was inadequate for my aching old back. I had been riding dirt bikes since I was in Jr. High though, so I'm used to a clutch.

Any updates as to when Gorman might be back to normal? I can't wait to start going back there again!

BTW - my wife is looking to get a fully automatic quad, any suggestions?

If you're new to the sport, I'd stick with minimally a semi automatic. For a newbie there's no stalling becuase you don't clutch, but you also have engine braking for any steep, scary downhill. The only auto sport quad I know of is the Kawasaki vforce 750; otherwise you'll need to go the utility quad route. My Kawaski is a semi automatic and I love it. Two cousins have the Honda 250, which has a softer ride than the Kawa, and they're both semis. However, the nicer rides come from the more sporty bikes with the full on clutch. I've ridden some friends Raptors and Predators and they're like riding on pillows. Can't wait to upgrade!!

Pismo Beach is one... We do night runs at Ocotillo Wells. Forest areas, I think Big Bear. And Public land like in Temecula.

There aren't too many places to avoid the dust in the summer except for the sand. Pismo gets packed and in May you could get the same environment by standing in a sand blasting cabinet. I head up to the Forest (Bass Lake Ranger District, Sierra Nat. Forest.) It's an hour for me (that's the closest place to me). Can get a little dusty on the forest roads. The trails at Miami Trails are taken pretty slow (technical) that it's pretty much a non-issue. Temps get into the 90s there. The higher you go, the cooler it is.

Wayne, I think I remember you. Met a couple of guys with ATCs at Pismo. One had a ATC converted to a quad. Not sure if that's you. That was in like '03 I think.

As far as the full auto quad, what are you looking for? Sport bikes are rare in full-auto. And the 250ex is a decent starter bike for kids. I wouldn't want to spend too much seat time on them. They have a suspension of some type, but that's about all I can say for it. For Utilities there sky is the limit. I've got friends with Bomb Outlanders (2 400s and 1 330). Pretty much will do anything and go anywhere a normal human would ask of a quad. The 400s are ridden by guys and pretty much beat on them (one has a new frame if tha tells you anyways.) The 330 is ridden by a wife. It pulled a log about 8' long through the sand at Pismo (took a few runs around the bowl before it got out though.)

Most of the current generation utes with auto trannies have engine breaking so don't let that worry you. Matter of fact, the next bike I buy will probably be a 400 class Ute (if/when that ever happens). I've been really impressed by my buddies 'Lander. Toss it in 4 Lo and it will climb up anything.

I haven't been to Clear Creek yet, but I want to get out there sometime. Maybe in April I can get over there. Heard good and bad (not all that quad friendly with narrow trails.)
