Last question...... what kind of ORV tags do we need to ride legally for this one?
I've called the Idaho DMV & they <u>can</u> issue an ID registration & license plate for our ATVs that are owned & registered in WA.
And I also called Inland Paper & they issue individual & family permits to ride on their property.
Which one do we need to attend this ride? Or are there others?

Inland paper permits you can get at Whites Boots by the ballpark is it $30. for a individual or $45. for a family pass. When I ride with Jay he has a family permit. I wont admit it but when I ride with Jay also I am related to him just for that ride only. Around Memorial they are going to be checking for permits.
Also a reminder. When your up on Mica on the washington side, or anywhere for that matter, please remember to not tear up the roads. When Jay and I were up there last week someone was ripping up the roads and we got chewed out for it. Just doing out part to inform everyone that Rod from the FCC is looking out for it and that we would post a message informing everyone of the problem. Dont want the roads shut down.
Jay speaking of ORV tags you get your on yet? Get that winch mounted?

I think that you are mostly right Viper, except for the street legal part. For that you need to actually get a liscense plate for the quad and I believe you have to have headlights and tail lights as well. The forest service has said that with just the off road sticker you are ok to ride on roads that are not paved, but for paved you need the plate.

I will post the regulations a bit latter, I don't have the time right now, on my way out the door to the OHV Task Force meeting. I'll have some info on the FS holding an open house next week about the travel plan. This is an important one guys. Anyway, if you're registered in WA you shouldn't have a problem on the ride. Inland paper is a private permit and is not recognized by anyone else. I'll post more this evening.
Another quick note anybody see the North Idaho Spokesman today? There's an article about Canfield and the new FS patrols.

Niskibum: Sorry should have made that clear. You do need headlights and taillights as well as working brake lights, horn. ect to make it Street legal. The reg in Idaho comes with a steel license plate..
As far as the Spokesman review anyone that didnt see the article.. Heres the link to it.

Greetings. I'm new to the site and new to quads in general, but I've been jeeping and dirt biking almost my whole life. I have a King Quad that is registered in my dads name in Montana. I finally brought it over to spokane and now I'm ready ride. My question is this.. I would like to keep the Montana license plate, but what do I have to do to be legal in WA or ID? Can I register it in wa and still get an Idaho plate? Ineed to keep a plate to be legal back on the FS roads over by GlacierNPwith my dad. I think I can get a temp out of state permit in WA (90days?) I would almost rather register as ORV in WA and have an ID license plate if that is possible. Any info is greatly appreciated! Also would love to hook up with some folks for some fun trail rides at some place other than the ORV park, though that can be fun too. I have rotating days off(Post Office) so I can go in the middle of the week sometimes more than on the weekends. sorry so longwinded

mtnman66 - Welcome aboard. Your MT plate will work in Idaho. Not sure about WA. You are supposed to have a horn, mirror, insurance, drivers license, and a brake light in order to run the FS roads in Idaho. And of course headlight/taillight after dark. You have to carry a shovel and bucket after fire season starts. May 10th I think. Your helmet qualifies for a bucket.

RockmanAtv- thanks!looks like the requiremants are the same for MT and ID. I've got all that except for the insurance. I'll have to check tomorrow and see if they'll let me get insurance for the quad registered in my dads name. What do you know about licensing (plate) it in ID if I register it in my name here in WA. Is that possible? My waverunner and boat are both running ID tabs since we use them on Lake Cd'a. hopefully ORVs work the same way? I really wanted to come out to the meeting on tuesday but the kids had basketball camp that night. hope to make the next one, sounds like just the kind of group I'm interested in.

Here's the info on the Travel Plan
...The Forest Service will be hosting an open house
public meeting on Thursday, April 27, to discuss the Coeur d'Alene River
Ranger District Travel Plan.
The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Fernan
Elementary School, 520 North 21st Street in Coeur d'Alene.
In 2005, the Forest Service published a new rule for providing motor vehicle access to national forests and grasslands. The rule requires each national forest unit to designate those roads, trails, and areas open to motorized vehicle use, and identify them on a motor vehicle use map. The map will be published annually, and will be free to the public. The Motorized vehicle use map will not replace visitor maps or other maps intended to convey visitor information - the map only addresses routes designated for motor vehicle use.

If I'm not mistaken, if your quads are registered in another state, you need to get an out of state sticker for your quad. The steel licence plates do not go inconjuction with the stickers. I'm not sure what the $$ is for the stickers though. Probably 10 or 15.
