on second thought.....I take it back ...stick around buddy.....If it were only TRUE ATV guys here the poo guys wouldnt have any one to pick on cuz it would be only poo guys here....lol...

hmmm..... last time I checked. I had TRUE 4x4. And it even works in reverse, or under decell, or while going down hills.. etc. Don't you buy into that Popo hogwash NHWASH. If you want real 4wd. Get a quad with a front locker. And the TRUE ATV guys, know the difference. lol

Really its a question of intellegence. Honda, they build quads, cars and race engines. Suzuki, they build quads, cars, and race engines. Shoot even Yamaha builds engines for Ford. Now Polaris tried to build a car, but it kept breaking down on the way to the test track...

Sorry about that MHWASH, you'll have to excuse that first reply to your post. You may have heard about the computer programmers methodology called "Fuzzy Logic", well around here we use a term called "Ragged Logic". With Ragged Logic you simply pick a brand name and make it your God. Your dealer is like a preacher and you believe everything he says like it is the gospel. It is very convienant, since you don't have to pay attention to annoying little things like facts and reality, you just clutch your Polaris key chain to your chest and say something like "The Polaris works in mysterious ways!". If someone questions you, just spit out advertising catch phrases like "true 4wd" or "worlds toughest atv" like you were reciting verses from the bible, and never even worry if there is even 1 iota of truth to it. You can also convienantly forget situations where a little Honda runs circles around you while you are stuck before it pulls you out, just raise your hands skyward and mutter something like "Oh Polaris, what did I do wrong, why have you foresaken me?", because the Polaris is a deity and therefore infoulable, so it must have been something you did. Remember, it's not logic, it's Ragged Logic!

Ragged...If it wasn't for guys like MHWASH the world would be a boring place. MHWASH...were with ya! Ragged's continued blind allegiance to Polaris is starting to obfiscate his judgement.

MHWASH...You'll have to pardon this Ragged Logic...it comes from 2 things...1. Riding a snowmobile at wierd angles and heights while listening to music that sounds like Ozzy. 2. Riding an ATV that is (as somewhat recently said), a cross between a garbage dumpster a powered wheel chair and a golf cart. So..please overlook our friend ragged...he needs help!

Oh, I have an opinion of Polaris. But any guy that listens to Ozzy is not totaly lost in my book, but that might explain his afflection with Polaris.

The one truly sucky thing about Polaris and 4 wheel drive is the lack of it in reverse. I must admit, the first time I found that out I was really dissapointed. I really don't have enough experience with enough models to tell who is best. I can say in all honesty, in 2000, Suzuki did not do as well in four wheel drive as a Polaris that is six years newer. Which is not much of a fair comparison. It's really almost not even worth saying. But it is the only honest comparison I can make.

The not having 4 wheel drive in reverse got me when I was plowing my driveway one year and had to back up. However, with the reverse over-ride I was able to power my way out of it. That is the only time where it has been a irritant. I have went riding in some pretty good snow. I'm pretty pleased. I have found many of the factors people site to not be a problem for me...weight being a key one. What I have found a key factor, and it's something people miss all the time is the tread on the tires. I have a more aggressive tread. It does make a big difference.

I did hear the true four wheel drive story from the dealers also. Is it true? I don't really know. I don't honestly care. Common sense made me suspect it wasn't. Four wheel drive isn't exactly a new technology or anything

I think as long as people are staying clear from the new line of Asian imports odds are the playing field is not that drastic when comparing. We like to act like it is for fun. But I don't think it is. I suspect the talent pool at these compaines shifts around like it does in all places where money and compeition is involved and patents not withstanding, a good idea has been used more than once

That is kinda what I was getting at earlier. In 2003 when I bought my Vinney I tried to ride everything I could. The local Yamaha shop didn't have hardly any Bombs in stock, so I wasn't comfortable with the service I might get although I had heard good things about the Bomb. The Kawi dealer was worse, so those two were out. That year the Grizz weighed a lot more and the suspension was really unstable, and the Kodiac still had a mono-shock rear end, I rode them both and wasn't impressed. I went to the Suzuki/AC dealer and rode an AC and it was a complete dog, then I rode the Vinson auto and right after that the Vinson manual and I was sold. I did go to the Polaris dealer, and they wanted about a grand more for a 500 (which will buy a front end locker and several sets of steel skid plates by the way), and the two things that I don't care for on them is the weight, which is like 150 more lbs, and the way they feel when you ride them. Something about the way the handlebars sit, and how the seat feels kinda makes me feel like I'm riding on a big hay wagon. Not the sporty, sitting in it rather than on it, feel of the Suzuki.

Now this is 2006, and I think most machines have changed considerably, so if I were to buy another one today I would have to go around and test ride pretty much everything available again and read up on all the stats again. I can say though that if I were going to get a big bore, after reading all the reviews I have that I would look seriously at the Bomb 650. The 800 is tempting, especially that Renagade, but I think I would end up in intensive care if I rode one of those. Sorry Ragged, but I just can't understand the philosophy of buying a quad purely on name without at least looking at what the others have to offer. I really hope you don't approach your health care in the same way. When your doctor says "I really don't know what's wrong with you, so I'd like to do some really painful exploratory surgery to try and figure it out." I know I'm getting a second opinion.
