Default Rhino Electical Problems

I bought a New 2007 rhino and i put some reverse lights on it and on day my head lights didn't work. so i took it in and the dealer said it was a dead short. What is a dead short? I didn't run any of my lights wiring to the factory wires but the wires were melted when the dealer showed me so how can i fix the problem and can you put add ons without ruining the battery or wiring?

Don't know how you ran the wires for your rear lights but what he means by a dead short is the hot wire or +12V from the battery shorted to ground and there was no fuse so it melted the wires.

I ran my light from the battery then along the frame to where there was no way for it to get pinched or anything. I have a line line fuse on the redwire that goes to my battery. my lights doesn't touch any of the factory harness but thats it. i have my ground to the frame and i was wondering what might have caused the short... When i got it back the factory wires were melted, I was wondering if the ground would cause the factory to melt...

No the Gound would not cause that. Try tracing the melted wires to the point that they are no longer melted. You should find the probem there.

Ok Yeah when i took my rhino in they cut my wires then the factory one and replaced them so hopefully they fixed the problem. Do you have to have a fuse box to put on other accessories? Would that make things alot easier for later accessories?

It could. I have both on my Rhino. I have a fuse box in my overhead structure that has 4 off road lights, stereo and other stuff on it. I use inline fuses under the hood.
