Default warrior 14 or 15 tooth front sprocket?

i want to get more top speed and wider gears but i don't know if i should go with a 14 or 15 tooth my warrior is pretty much stock. Also will I have to take the master link apart to put the new sprocket on or can i just loosen up the back and slip the chain out the side?

Hey,

well, your stock gearing is 13/40. so say your Warrior tops out at 60mph stock. if you go to a 14 tooth front, then your new mathmatical top speed is around 65mph. and a 15 tooth front would give you a mathmatical speed of 69 mph. but note that i say "mathmatical" top speed because with the larger sprockets, you will accelerate slower, and you may not be able to wind out your motor completely. as in, with the new gearing, your motor may not have enough power to push your Warrior 69mph. also, with the higher gearing, you'll lose a little low end torque.

since you said your quad is mostly stock, i probably wouldn't go more than a 14 tooth front sprocket. of course at only $7ea, you could get both and see which you like better. so basically it depends on what kind of riding you do. if you're like me and do lots of trail riding, the higher top speed won't get used as much as the low end torque will. but if you get a chance to stretch it out you may like the extra top speed. it's all up to you my friend.

when i get my new chain, i'm going to get a 12, 13, & 14 tooth front sprockets and see which i like the most.

cheers,
bigmac

I like my 15 just because I dont have to shift as much. It makes 1st and second gear alot more useful in my opinion.

is it easy to switch between sprockets? last time i took the master link apart i had a hell of a time putting it back together so i really don't want to have to do that again.

I'm running a 15T and 22" rear tires for a nice combination of better ground clearance and top speed - seems to work well.

if your chain isint to tight you may be able to get enough slack in it with the chain adjuster to just pop it in or out. If your chain is new though.... wont be fun. I would rather take the rear sproket off of mine that take the chain apart. My chain is dowright evil.

The stock chain legnth will work with a 14. The motor (stock) really does not have enough power to make the 15 worth while, at least for top end.
