Carburator Problems Help??
#1
I just got a buddies 99' big bear 350 and he wanted to fix it for him well the pilot jet was laying on the motor when i got it and i ordered a new pilot screw set from the dealer and it was to small we look it up for a 98 and the # was the same so we went through some spare parts. I think something else is wrong other than the pilot screw cause every time you hit the gas it wants to stall or even shut off. It will rev if you take it slow but not all the time. I was going to order a carb. kit but iam not sure what to order it for i have the serial# for it but that it i have not found any markings on it to tell what year it is. Is there a site like kawasaki's where i can type in the serial # and maybe get the right parts?

A warrior has an accelerator pump....
This "might" help. Take off the float bowl, take out the rod for the accelerator pump, and either stretch that string and make it stronger or put a stouter one in from a pump pencil or something.

is in a lil hole on the side of the bowl. When you take off the bowl it will be sticking up. When you push it down it will shoot some gas at you. On a warrior anywho, I dunno if a bigbear has the same carb.

yamaha has microfiche online, as does a few online retailers.
Make sure you check the parking brake switch at the handlebar. if its broke or activated it will idle ok but stall out and **** and moan when trying to rev.

yep, just unplug it down under the front and tape up the connector. Even if it is not the problem (sounds like it is) it will help down the road to have it disconnected already eventually it will cause this similar problem.
Its Yamaha's safety design to not allow you to rev the bike with the parking brake on its on most all their quads.
Go to alba and look at the microfiche for 99 bigbear, handlebars and levers, its listed as part #9. It will either need disconnected or the wires connected together. I am pretty sure the big bear will be the same as the other yamahas and need just disconnecting.
