No complaints, but making a Raptor super fast gets expensive super fast also.

Well here's what I'm thinking... tell me if I'm in the ballpark.

I'm thinking that with staying with 11-1 compression and a Stage 1 cam will keep me in the neighborhood that I like to be in for dune running. Has anyone had problems running this setup with 92 pump gas? I'm kinda thinking that the compression might be a little on the high side for this but I don't really know. What are you guys running for fuel on the 11-1 and 12-1 engines?

I'm pretty much convinced that porting will be the best power builder... even if it was a stock bore engine. How much hp do you think I'll add by going with just cam, and the 686 piston?? Are we talking 5 hp for this and then another 5 hp for the port work? Obviously this is going to be a rough guess abt actual hp numbers.

Thanks for all of the replies... this is helping TONS!!

i have that exact setup and i love it,it has all the power you need without being a full on dragger,i win about 85-90% of the time when i race at the drags and it's great for trail riding and desert,i do it all and it works great for everything..

Make sure you get the stock carbs modded from craycraft if you do get it done , they rip but the floats on jumping are not the greatest..

I run 91 and have no problems at all .....

Hmm.... what's the cost for the carb mods?

Is it really worth the cost?

I've heard a lot of good things about Craycraft. I'm not doubting their expertise but just thinking about being money concious!!

The carb mods are difinitly worth it. That set up is to the point or just over wanting to suck the stock carbs dry and leaning out the engine, which will cause piston or rod damage. IMO
I think he has a special deal for modding the carbs for Craycraft engine owners that doesn't include the Pingle valve. I don't think the valve would be needed for a mild 686 like your talking about putting together.

get the carb mods !!! my engine was sucking my carbs dry, i couldn't raise the floats any higher without it flooding... this was the cause of my engine failure, no doubt
