Definitively the suspension of the YFZ is hard, the springs are much thick compared to the Banshee or Raptor. Cornering is good because it maintains stability, also big jumps landing flat are not too painful. But how about trail riding or deser riding, the suspension sucks!!

I have added a 1.5 inch spacers on each front wheel but the suspension does not get any softer. I have setted the spring preload to the minimum as well as the rebound and compresion. the filing is still ROUGH.

Unless you are using your YFZ for MX only you will be somehow happy with the suspension. I'm shure many of you will agree. Although, serious MX racers will change A-arms and shocks.

Possible Solutions? new longer A-Arms? new shocks? both?

First, I would take the spacers off the front. That screws up your steering geometry. It causes your front wheels to swing instead of pivot when steering. It also transmits trail forces into the handle bars. Yuk!

Second, put some Works triple rates on the front. It will be night and day. You can get these w/o reserviors in rockymountainatv.com for less than $400....if mem serves. Your 450 will ride like a Catillac. If you have to have reserviors, its about $100 or so more. Check ebay too.

If it is still too rough, get an after market cushy ceet.

I don't think you need to mess with the arms. That bike is balanced and stanced perfect for recreational use.

Yep those works should help out, but if you have the money for better ones, I would suggest either Axis or Elka's, these are superb!

Yea if i were you i would get Elka shocks they feel a little more smooth and they will last longer!!!

The best thing about this is that you can put your stock YFZ shocks on ebay and some a$$hole will pay you $250. People think they are cool because they have elka style piggyback reserviors. But they don't know that they are as stiff as Richard Simmon's wiener at a Ricky Martin concert.

You could put this money toward some fancy shocks.

You will not corner quite as flat, but you could compensate with some REAR wheel spacers.

IMO...again.

I just talk to my friend from Image Racing and ordered him a pair of PEP pro shocks with +2+1 long travel LoneStar arms, I guess I'll have no further complains about YFZ suspension.
