Default Just got a new ride...Any old timer two wheeler riders? Looking for info on a IT 465

Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of the 1982 Yamaha IT465 dirtbike? I just got bought one on ebay. I have not been able to find much info about this bike. Any help would be appreciated.

They were great bikes.

In fact, I am looking for one right now myself.

I think there are a couple on ebay right now. I paid 500 for mine and only needed to do minor maintenance to get it trail ready. This thing has awesome power. It does not even need 1st gear. It will pretty much pull a wheelie or spin the tire in any gear. I'm looking forward to some dirt road drags against my friend's yfz.

One on Ebay is in California (a long away from me) and the bidding has gone higher than I think its worth, the other (its an IT490 which is actually preferable to me) is in Wisconsin and looks pretty clean, but I'm hoping to find something closer.

I think they are great bikes. Excellent for the forest and mountain trails that I have in my backyard.

Good luck with yours, I am sure you'll enjoy it.

MY UNK HAS 3 490z an to 465 one of the 490z had a bad bottom end so he took the top end off the 490 and put it on the 465 it gave it a great gain so if u run across a old beat 490 the head swap is worth whille i rode it and it was daylight and dark deffrence but about the 465 i think there great bike's seem 2 run forever and very strong the only thing i didnt like about them was the front end seemed soooo narrow i felt verry uneasy going down hill on it lol but anyways good luck on ur bike and good rideing to you `````Jeremy

Thanks

I do enjoy it. If I had to choose between a bike and a quad, I'd go with the quad. Riding a bike is like nothing else though.
