YFZ450 = dead battery!!
#1
Has anyone experianced their battery running dead once additional lights or higher wattage bulbs are put on their bike? I hear yamaha rates the stator on the yfz450 @ a palsy 114watts, which in reality only puts out about 75 total watts period! No wonder these things die when any extra load is put on them. I heard that at the ATV show this weekend KMS has a stator upgrade kit they will be releasing that puts out a whooping 250 watts @ 3000rpms. Thats enough to run some serious aftermarket electronics and lighting- does anyone have this kit yet and if so how do you like it?

a friend of mine has a yfz and that thing cant keep the battery charged even with the lights OFF. We had to push start it once and ride it around for 1hr until it was able to turn on by itself. Defenetly look into a bigger stator, the stock one is junk.

ricky stator doesn't show one on their website for the yfz450?? and it looks like their offerings are stator only and you only pick up about 50 watts on average. I talked to KMS today and was told that the kit includes a new rotor, stator and voltage rectifier in their kit.

The 05 had the same problem, I know i have one and it did it to me....
First weekend after the day i bought it it ran dead, but has been ok with the lights on...Which is BS and there needs to be a explanation for me buying a 6,000 dollar bike with my hard earned money and for them to have overlooked this problem when it happens to so many....!
