I'm just surprised this thread is still going on, I figured someone would have started another just like it by now and the argument would have moved there.

Banshee 350 stock the victor will be the YFZ....it makes more torque and is faster in STOCK TRIM listin to that STOCK!! now if you put mods on both of em. then you got a totaly different outcome......The banshee's engine has a lot more potential than the YFZ's yes you can bore a YFZ to say a 550 and make it push about 80hp.. but bore a banshee to a 550 and its gonna HAUL SOME SERIOUS ****...why well beacuse 2 stoke engines can pack about double the power in a smaller size engine....reason being is that a 2stoke fires every revolution while a four stroke is every other revolution.....so a 2stroke will make more HP plus they rev out a lot higher than 4strokes...the motors are also a lot lighter cuz you have no cams, valves and no external lubrication system....so the engine is lighter and makes more power in a smaller package.....thats all i have to say hope this clears up a few things for ppl. out there ......good riding to everybody and remember always ware a HELMET ......$G$

ALSO, if you put equal mods on the yfz and banshee, the yfz will still beat it in a 300 ft drag. If your concerned with beating the banshee topspeed, I already showed that a yfz WILL go faster than a banshee EASILY, with a 15 tooth front sprocket. YOu cant get a banshee to go that fast without some serious gearing changes, or 22 inch tires!
Equally performing pipes, equally performing intake, and equally performing jetting THE YFZ WILL BE THE VICTOR. (I dont care if you banshee people have beat yfz's with those circumstances. THE ONLY reason you would, is if your riding against a lesser rider. MACHINE VS. MACHINE the yfz will win. IT IS THE BETTER MACHINE.
NOW, I will point out, that if your trying to make a drag racer, the banshee, can and will be faster then yfz's. You just cant crank and hop up the yfz the same way as the banshee.
Keep this in mind. a 60 horse yfz, will directly compete with a 70 horse banshee. If you havnt noticed, yfz's have a huge weight advantage, and without very many mods, can be made a lot lighter. The other thing to keep in mind, is POWER DOES NOT GET TO THE GROUND ON A BANSHEE. It spins it away. The vast majority of the yfz's WILL get it to the ground. Maybe on the street a banshee will kill a yfz, but I KNOW in dirt they will not.

Maybe in a vacume where there is no wind resistence, and nobody on the bike it would do 85, but not in the real world. As for top speeds stock, for what it's worth, here's what dirt wheels says. Ds 650-77, Banshee-72, raptor660r-74, raptor700r- around 75 {probily goes faster}, predator-75, yfz450-75, 450r-74, z400-70, 400ex-65. Acceleration wise, the banshee is at top speed before all the others. From expreience on pavement, out of the hole my ds had a tough time staying with a stock banshee untill mid way through 5th gear when I started to gain on him, but he would be already toped out and had a 4 bike length on me. Every time it went that way. And my ds had a pipe +k&n. Anyway, there's no doubt that the yfz is a better all around, and mx bike than a banshee. There's also no doubt the banshee is alot more FUN to ride than a yfz {and yes I've ridden a yfz450 }. Moded vs. modded, it's all banshee. On more thing for those gearing calculators, a high reving shee [ toomey t-5 or rocket pipes}can rev to 13,000+ rpm. Also the reason for the different factory sprocket size on the shee is the early shee came with 22 inch rear tires.

.....................YOU dont quite get it do ya? IT IS A GEARING CALCULATOR, not wind tunnel, or dyno, or scale. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU HAVE 550 HORSEPOWER, WEIGH 500 LBS, AND HAVE 100mph winds blowing you in the face. NONE OF THAT MATTERS. It is a gearing calculator. SImply that. That means that the bike/quad is capable of achieving those speeds IF you cant run at max efficiency. My yfz for example, (like I stated) has a high rev cdi, +500, which puts the revs at 11,250. I have 20 inch tires and 15/38 gearing. MY QUAD will run off that rev limiter all day long, with no wheel spin, meaning I AM running at max efficiency. ..........now if you are not meeting the parameters of the gearing calculator, for example you have wheel spin, or cant run off the rev limiter then that means you are going slower than the calculated speed that the gearing calculator gave.
GET IT?

I, and many other banshee owners have never heard of a banshee capable of hitting 13k. You must have one crazy banshee that none of the rest of us have!
.............and if you are running that many rpms, beware of a engine rebuild in your not too long future!
You are right about the tires back then, thanks!

To the person who said something about putting equal mod dollars into the YFZ and Banshee, and having the YFZ come out on top........ ignorance.
Do you know how fast a piped and (properly) ported banshee is?
To say that the already "race prepaired" tapped motor like the YFZ, (single cylinder, 4 stroke) and the extremely low state of tune stock banshee motor
(twin cylinder, 2 stroke) will be equal in performance gains for the dollar is complete idiocy.
