Well I jus got in about n hour ago from the local dealer up the road to check out some quads......till now I was sure I wanted the Suzuki Eiger 400 for our 1st quad....but after examining the Kodi I found I liked it much better. I really liked everything about the machine and it had more to offer than Zuks 400....and yes the price too was little more, but Im thinkin its worth it....after reading tons of posts here about both machines I think I couldnt go wrong with either, but after owning a few Yamaha products already I think we'll be happy. Any Thoughts?

After many trips to many different dealerships, and many posts on atv connection. I decided on the kodiak 450 06. I only have like 3 hours on it, but so far so good, the diff lock and digital display are + features, so is the IRS if thats your cup of tea. Very strong, well built, reliable quad is the reason that I chose the Yamy. Step dad has an 03 lodiak which is pretty much the same bike and it has been put through hell, but still keeps on truckin. Not too framiliar with the 400 Zuki but I am sure it is a decent bike too,
one thing you may want to check though is if the 400 suzuki is liquid cooled or not, that may be another deciding feature as the 450 Yami is. Dont rush, you will make the right choice for your needs.

Another trip 2day to the dealer w/ the wife to check out the kids quads and she was sold on the Yamaha Kodi 450. Although she was sittin on a new Grizz 660 and I thought I had it sold, till the salesman spoke up....grrrrr...we still opted fer a new 450...and heck its all good....450's plenty fer my lil 6 acre farm. Any1 know bout the AlphaSports Mini Cobra 50....we're lookin to grab one of those fer our daughter. Speak Up Kodi owners...I'd like to have somethin to look forward to in a few weeks.....we jus signed on our house and we'll be grabbin the new Kodi around the end of the month.
Thanks All.

Ive had my 06 Kodiak 450 for about a month and couldn't be happier. Its my first quad, and I think it rocks! I know I'm not pushing its capabilities yet, but it has been great so far on trails and with the deer lease. Did a 25 mile trail ride, and it did great. Also took all the gear to set up my deer feeder without a problem.
I looked at the Honda's (too much for comperable features), and the Grizz (too big for me), and the Kodiak fit very well. Got it in the camo and am very happy with my choice.

I bought a 2005 Kodiak 450 a few months ago, have no problems with the bike at all. Runs great, easy to throw around. Only thing I have notice is when you get low on gas, it will backfire until you switch to reserve. I read on the yamaha website, that the 2006 has hydraulic rear brake now. I think mine (2005) has cable to rear disc brake. My rear brake squeals once in awhile, but after I use it some it goes away.

I think the new kodiaks are a great quad. My dad has a 400 kodiak which runs great... if i were to get a utility, i would get the new wolverine, they look awsome!

I've got an 05 with over 1000 trouble free miles on it. It will do anything I ask of it. The only problems with the 05's were the squeakie rear disk brake and the rear grease fittings. Sounds like they took care of the brake problem but did they put on 90 degree angled fittings on the 06's. If not then that would be the first thing to do is replace the rear grease fittings with angled ones, otherwise it's impossible to attach a grease gun to the stock fitting due to the angle. You can get angled (metric) ones at your local auto parts store. It's almost deer season and I'm ready to get a little blood on my Kodiak.

As you alredy know, the Kodiak 450 has all the features of the Grizzly just a smaller motor. It's not underpowered by any means. You will definately be happy with it.
