Default to clutch kit or to not clutch kit

i am getting ready to purchase some 26x12x12 and 26x9x12 mudzillas. i was told at the dealer i would only need to clutch on a 27" and taller tire. after seeing these enomorous mudzillas and the weight of them i can only imagine they are just as or heavier than a 27" mudlite or type tire. I called yamaha and the service guy said you should clutch kit anything bigger than stock no matter what tire it is. and i should only ride around in low until i get it done. what do you guys think of this?am i safe or should i just buy a lighter tire? am i looking at tearing a lot of stuff up on the bike? i just ride pretty normal as normal as trail and mud riding lets i do not rough house to much other than the occasional spinning the rear around and trying to crank out some wheelies. any help would be appreciated!

What kind of quad are they on. Since you are a Yamaha fan I have to believe it is either a Grizzly or Kodiak. If it's either one of those machines then YES, you need a clutch kit. I have 26" Dirt Devils on my Grizzlies and they suck a lot of power. I'm going to put the kit in mine and leave my wifes alone since she doesn't get too extreme anyway.

I spent a year in King Salmon and have a cousin in Eagle River. Beautifull country.

that is cool i am military just like almost everyone else in Eagle River is. those mudzillas are heavy as hell. i guess i will just break down and buy one. Wonder how hard it is to do i am a mechanic and play a motorcycle atv mechanic on TV. Do you have to have special tools to install one of these?
