worn clutch???
#1
OK, I just picked upthis new used 350 Raptor. I posted some q's last week and got those figured out. But the clutch grabs right at the top of the lever. It doesn't slip at all but it doesn't grab anything near my Z400 or any other bike or quad I've ridden before. It's almost all the way out before it grabs. Is this due to a worn clutch? And how hard are they to change and what do I need to make sure is exactly right when doing it.
Since my regular hobby is building fast cars, I have just about every tool imaginable and I have dealt with multi-disc clutch packs on race cars as well. This small engine thing is new to me.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Casey.

it's super easy( somewhat)... warriors have a nonadjustable clutch...( the only adjustment as far as slack in line is on the perch)
also.. if it doesn't sound like it's slipping when you are on the throttle it should be fine
#1 first you want to take off the peg and brake lever so you can get to the side cover... there will be a small tab attached to where the clutch cable is... bend that up and pull the cable back, and then pull toward you... now you are ready go to step #2
#2 tip bike on side so you can keep the oil in it...
#3 take the( i beleive 10) nuts (10mm or 8) out of the side cover and you should be able to take that off ..
then i beleive you loosen the screws holding the springs in( be sure to get HD springs with whatever clutch you get) and take the nut off(with a impact wrench)
#4 there ARE rubber spacers in the clutch pack.. DON'T LOSE THEM OR THROW THEM AWAY... remember what order they go on there...
#5 ( make sure you put the everything on the basket and THEN slide it onto the hub) then use some oil(same oil as the case oil) and put the friction plates in it before you install them...(don't install dry)
#6 put the springs on(2 loose to hold it then put the other 3 on)
#7 tighten springs down and then put the nut bacjk on with impact wrench
#8 put cover on with bolts
#9 put the cable back in the little thing and bend the tab down...
#10 put peg and brake lever back on
NOTES: this is on a warrior, but it is the same quad basically, so it should all be the same.

Thanks fellas,
Wow that was a quick response. I guess if other folks have the same issue on a brand new one, then it isn't a bad thing. But my son caught on to it real quick.
Thanks again.

wow, 2 more responses while I was typing. No need to bash here fellas. Actually there are 3 adjustments: on the bar (perch), in-line (cable), and the shaft. I tried all priors and to no avail, it's still the same.
