Default Warrior timing off?

I set my valves and did not make sure my crank and cam lined up. I set them to the cam. I took it back down and found that when my crank is lined up my cam is slightly advanced, but not a tooth ahead. It runs great and there is virtualy no tick. Do i put back together and run it or figure out how to set timing dead on? I just got the bike it's an 89, I don't know whats been done to it before I bought it. It runs great I just had to fix those noisy valves and maybe I should have let them be. Is it hard to adjust the timing if necessary? Could my chain just be stretched? Thanks for any help.
