Default help with rear cv joint - 06 grizz

Well i havent driven my quad since last fall as way too much snow. looked at it the other day and noticed one of the rear cv boots is twisted and when i put my hand under it i get covered in grease. Should i just replace the boot and regrease? or swap out the cv joint all together?

Also is this a fairly easy job? My dealership is really pricey to do anything. im not going back there again. Would like to solve this problem as its nice out and really want to ride.

Thanks
Rob

Look for a cut in your boot. If it not cut, try to twist it back with pliers on the small clamp. If it's cut take the axle out and clean the joint with varsol or gas and re grease it and put a new boot on.

thanks whiteman,

does a guy need some kind of special tool to put the new steel bands on that come with the new cv boots? This pretty simple job to pull the cv joint off? Im trying to find a thin walled socket so i can get my wheels off, thats my first step, lol.

Take one of your new bands down to your local auto parts store. They should have the tool here. My local NAPA store had one for $23.00 that works perfect!
