wolverine reverse lamp install
OK, so I've been trying to hook up a reverse lamp on my 2004 wolverine using a relay, except I've got a problem with the trigger wire I'm using. It seems that the indicator light on the dash (which I was using for the trigger source for my relay) is actually a hot positive wire, the circuit is grounded and completed when shifted into reverse. Using this already hot wire as my trigger causes the relay to complete the circuit to the reverse lamp on the back of the bike without shifting into reverse. How would I have to wire up my relay to keep this from happening, or do I need to add diodes to keep the current from flowing in the wrong direction?
PS Its a typical Bosch type relay, two horizontal poles (#87 & #87a), three vertical poles ( left to right, #86, #30, #85)
#85- Ground
#30- Pos. source from battery for aux. light
#86- input source (trigger)
#87/87a- line out to aux. light

remove the ground from pin #85 and make a jumper from pin #30 to go to pin #85. A hot wire on pin #86 and a hot on pin #85 will cause the realy not to close until the reverse switch is grounded completing the circuit. dont worry it will not short circuit anything. Hope this helps.
