No biggie, I was just wanting to make sure perhaps I wasn't missing out on something. I am getting some jets tommorow, so hopefully I will finally be able to get this son of a gun really going.

It can take a long time for a plug to take color, I always base mine on how the machine actually rides, not what color the spark plug is. Because the main jet is only affecting you over 1/2 throttle, and you can't actually hold it in that range because if it choking out, you'll never see the indication on the plug. Back the jets way off, maybe back down to a 155, and see what that does for you. You really shouldn't need much more than a 150 though.

With my port job I didn't need any rejetting, if anything I actually had to lean it out some because it made the engine operate more efficiently from the additional flow.

As far as what jet I was using, can't say. I got rid of that stock carb before the port job and piston, and never could really get it tuned right anyways.

I think you're going to have to spend at least $800 when it's all said and done to get a good front end setup. Figure about $100 for a good set of tie rods and ends, $60 for brake lines, $350-400 for ASR a-arms, and another $350 for works shocks. As I said earlier, the brake lines are a must, but money well spent because it really does improve the braking power and feel. For the tie rods and ends, I suggest these or something similar:

Here's another similar set

These are probably the best a-arms you can get on a budget:

I was just looking and noticed that Wicked actually dropped thier a-arm prices a bit, they used to be $500 but now they're down to 400. Add shipping and 75 for brake lines, you have $500 invested. Not much more than the asr a-arms and lines. So for 30 bucks you'd be getting better quality stuff, well worth it in my opinion. I know you don't want to spend this much, but would you rather buy once and get something good, or take your chances with something a little cheaper?

One thing I'd like to also add, is that you really wouldn't have to replace the stock tie rod ends, unless you're already having a problem breaking them. The a-arm kits come with longer tie rods, so you could still use the stock ends. It just won't be quite as indestructible as a 12mm end, so it depends on how you ride.

I'd definately rather go with the better rod ends, just for the fact of while it is all down I may as well replace it. Did some tinkering last night, but got busy and didn't have a lot of time to work on the jetting, so I dropped it off at a buddy's shop and told him to get it going. I have to have it by Thursday, and I am working all day tommorow. I will find out what jetting he ends up using on it and get back. I will be going to the Badlands (in Indiana) Thursday and will post back with how she runs, and how I do against an LTZ 400. Also have a 38mm carb I am looking to put on here in a bit.

Finally really got it out onto the trails today, and boy was it nice. The upgrades to that engine were well worth it. My only beef is I may go back to that 13 tooth front sprocket, not really for the low end part, but simply because I don't need to run 60+mph anyway.

Edit: Also, however, did have one downfall today--got a nasty hole in a front tire, so I picked up a new pair of Razr2's for the front finally

Drag raced a 400EX today; I had him until 4th and then he got me by half a length. He was piped and jetted with a K&N, so I was pleased. Thinking about going back down to that 13 tooth sprocket, because it takes forever to get to 6th. I trail ride and hill climb, and 60+ really isn't a necessity.

Having the 22's on the rear has the affect of higher gearing, so with those you are already geared higher than stock, so a 13 should still be good without the gearing being too low.
