I just stuck my new Garmin Summit GPS unit in my pocket and took off down the street (the neighbors are probably pissed). When I got back, it showed a max top speed of 74.1 mph. That's on pavement with the complete Big Gun exhaust, modified air box, 160/165 and 27.5 jetting and 52 degrees outside. WOW, that's only 100 mph SLOWER than my R1

How come i've heard other people having the same mods claim to be over 80? And people hitting 75 on GPS with a stock machine?

Because a good GPS is accurate within + or - 10 mph. And thats a good one, but seriously, the only good way to clock anything is by radar gun or at the drag strip

AustinL911,

The R1 is a 2000 model and it's listed on Traderonline.com. Do a search for R1 in the 940 area code.

The GPS unit is accurate to within a few tenths of 1 mph while comparing it to my truck speedometer.

To the guy with the Busa...yea, it's 20 mph faster...in a STRAIGHT LINE

Your GPS must nbot be too good or you dont have the right jettings b/ a stock Raptor goes a little over 75 stock.

Heres an idea,

All the guys with Raptors and Banshees should go down the local hihgway and fly past a radar cop. Get pulled over and see how fast you were going. When the cop goes back to the car. Floor it away into a nearby trail. And if i see a headline on the news "Off-Roader flees from cop" Ill know it was you. it was a joke. I dont hold any responsiblity for your actions.

SykoQuadRider,

Here's 3 thoughts to consider concering your post...

1. If the GPS unit is not very good - suggesting it doesn't read accurately - then both our 2001 Ford F-150 and 2001 Toyota Sienna have the SAME error in speed as the GPS because the GPS is reading the SAME speed as both these vehicles.

2. A recent Dirt Wheels Magazine with the shootout between the Raptor, 400EX and DS650 must have had a faulty radar when it listed the stock Raptor at 71 mph (or was it 70.1 mph?).

and

3. It is commonly agreed that a complete exhaust (and jetted correctly) is good for about 3-4 mph on the top end. Someone putting on ONLY an exhaust and saying they are running over 80 mph would even make The Rock raise an eyebrow.

Now, I'm not saying your post was incorrect, but you may want to consider mine?

Yeah, i cant argue with that, a R-1 will make me look like a chump in the twistie stuff, actually a R-6 can rheme me out in the turns pretty well
