For the CDI, the pickup coil resistance should be roughly 171-209Ohms (colors-Y,L) and the source coil resistance should be 270-330Ohms (colors-W/G,R), according to the service manual. I don't know if that's going to help you but...

 

I checked the valve clearance and adjusted to specs. I checked the timing and it was in. I checked all the wires to make sure they weren't grounded out. Cleaned the carburetor thoroughly. Has spark. And still nothing motor cranks but just doesn't start...

 

Finally got it running! One of the wires had a short in it.

 

Ia m having the same problem...which wire was it that was shorting out?

 

Did you figure out which wire because I also have the same problem with my yamaha warrior.

 

SEEMS THESE MOLDELS ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS THERE IS A CDI BOX RIGHT UNDER THE SEAT THIS LITTLE JEWEL IS LIKE A BRAIN FOR THE FIREING AND THE AND TIMEING FOR THE BIKE .AND YES YOUR BIKE WILL START SOUND GOOD IN THE IDEL POSITION THEN PUT IN TO GEAR SPUTTER ATTACK MAKES BIKE SEEM LIKE IT HAS A FUEL PROBLEM 100+ DOLLARS FOR THIS DIAMOND IN THE RUFF
