Is it my eyes, or is the gold one tapered a lot sharper? that will greatly affect jetting and throttle response, you would think a carb kit would have the same needle in it. Is this a stock Yamaha kit, or an aftermarket performance kit, like a Dyno jet?

it's a Moose oem kit. Not sure about the needle. I guess I can just use whats already in the carb. do you know how far out I turn the air/fuel screw, some say 2.5 and some say more?? thanks..

2.5 is a good starting point, the way to tell if your mixture needs tweaking is to run in low gear up to speed, then let off and coast, if it pops through the exhaust, you are lean, turn it out 1/4 turn at a time until it stops. If you get to 4 turns, you need to go up a size on the pilot jet. If no popping, turn it in until it starts, then back out just until it stops.
