Hey all. I'm looking at buying an older quad so some friends who don't have the money can tag along with us. Can anyone tell me what the original tire size is on the 2001 Yamaha Big Bear 400? I know it's full time 4wd but I can get a kit from Warn to make it selectable if need be. I don't know if it's hard to drive in AWD all the time. I'd probably change it if it is. The one I'm looking at has 26" 589s so I know it will do well in the mud. It has the semi-automatic clutch. Is $1999 a good price for that far back?

 

The original tire size would be 25x8x12 on the front and 25X10X12 on the rear. It is not real difficult to ride around with full time 4 wheel drive, it can be noticeable at low speeds when trying to make a tight turn on a high traction surface. The price seems a little high to me, I would think it would be worth around $1500, but I don't know what similar machines are going for in your area.

 

We're up in New England. I live in Northern Massachusetts near the NH border and ride in NH and will be riding in Maine on vacation. Another family with 4 kids is coming up with us but don't have the money for a quad. I'm thinking of picking up a used one so they can go on rides with us. Was hoping to have enough money by now to get a new Polaris Sportsman X2 550 but not there and vacation is a few weeks away.
