660 clutch
New question about the 660 Grizzly . It's a 2002 and am not sure if the clutch or belt is slipping or if it is normal. When I take off from stop, position the bike seems to rev quite a bit to get it to move, not excessive just higher than I would think maybe normal . Get up to maybe 10-15 kms and the rpms drop and away I go. I am used to a semi-auto where you change gears (98 Big Bear). It supposedly had a new belt when I got it. Any comments appreciated.

Well finally got around to checking the belt. For a new belt it does have some wear. My manual calls for the width to be 1.310 in. It is at 1.250 so while I have it apart I'll replace it. The other part is that the primary sheave was FULL of heavy grease. the manual says to clean everything in there with a solvent and lightly grease things. It didn't help any when one roller or maybe two were in sideways not letting the sheave open all the way. I'll do a cleanup today, check for damage and hopefully get a ride in this weekend. This is what happens when you buy used off Kijiji.

clutch update
Well two weeks after I discover the rollers in sideways, I've purchased the centrifical(?) oil bath clutch pack, eight rollers and a new belt. This was on a machine that was taken to the dealer to be checked over before the guy sold it. The dealer said it was ready to go. I also had to put a diaphragm in the carb. I took the clutch drum to work and cleaned up the drive surface. Hopefully I'll have it all back together to ride on Friday.

Finally
Actually got the bike out for a short ride. Seems to work as it should. Moves with minimal revs and has power all thru the acceleration process. I took it on a strait stretch of smooth pavement and hit 92km( about 55 mph) before I backed off the throttle. Is this typical for approx. top end or does this seem slow(I ran out of smooth road) as there was some throttle left? I don't care about the speed part but it will let me gauge the power level of the bike.
