Default 99 big bear 400 starting problems

Recently bought a 99 big bear 400 and when I went to pick it up the battery was dead so we used a jumped box to get it started, it had been sitting awhile so it kept dying. Finally got it to run long enough to move it up to the trailer, then it died again. Went to put the jump box back on it and it wouldn't do anything. Got it home and fiddled with it. If I jump the solenoid it starts right up and shuts off with key or by turning the red switch to off. When I turn the ignition on I get no light or anything till I jump the solenoid and then I get lights including neutral light and reverse when in those gears. Figured I would hit the starter button while it was running one night and it kicked the starter on. I'm new to small engine stuff pretty handy around bigger engines. Any help is appreciated

Edit, all fuses are good

I would assume you have blown the main fuse. Usually mounted on the solenoid with Yams, but nothing to do with the solenoid itself. Most common reason, you connected the jump pack the wrong way round, pos to neg. Once running, the alternator powers the lights etc. Check the fuse, if it is OK, battery terminals and earths are next to suspect. If the main fuse has gone, once fixed, check regulator output, as that backwards power surge will have gone through it, to blow the fuse.

Ok will check it out, I didn't know there was a fuse down there I thought it only had the one on right side of the frame. I will update when I check

Main fuse may not be on the solenoid, it is on almost all Yams built this century but I'm not sure just when they started to use the combined fuse/solenoid units.
