I've got a '99 Big Bear 4x4 (out of warranty) and after I've ridden for about an hour or two the neutral indicating light on handlebars does not work. It always works when I begin riding, but but stops after things heat up. Is there some type of sending unit that could be bad that senses the neutral position and turns the light on.

If your 99 Big Bear is anything like my 97 Timberwolf it probably has a neutral switch, which on my quad is located on the bottom left side of the engine directly behind the shift lever. It threads into the engine case and has a wire that plugs into the end of it. I don't know exactly how it works, but I do have to drain the oil in order to change mine. That could possibly be your problem.

First get a wiring diagram, and check the engine grounds. Remember heat builds resistance. any loose or corroded connection can be lost when warm...
Good luck...
