I asked my dealer that same question. He told me as long as I kept it under 6500rpm for about 10hrs I'd be ok.

You'll start to feel a little bit of a difference in the motor. Generally ten hours is the key for breaking in a motor. Take it easy, change the oil after this, and you should be ok. Keep the bolts tight, but not overpowering. General logistics would tell you not to rev the motor very high, so yeah, 6500 is about as far as you want to be pushing it for the first ten hours. Dont be like some folks and leave it just sit in neutral for hours on end though.

Hey Mudmunster,
I went by the owners manual. I don't have the manual in front of me but I think it says to allow for a couple of cool downs in those ten hours. Just read the owners manual its all in there.

I have had lots of atv's, the newest 02 Raptor, and I have broken them all in the same way, FULL THROTTLE, change oil after 5 hr and 10hr and have never had any problems, but I usually upgrade often.

01 Warrior
01 Kodiak

When in Doubt - RTFM. They put it in the owners manual.
