ok my first question is kinda basic, just wondering if the raptor can be made into a good MX racer as well as a good desert racer??? also does it cost alot to get z400 quality suspension??

the other Q is about the alba raptor, and im torn. at firs i was gonna get the alba raptor because of the preformance upgrades it has, but i was torn when i saw the 2003 black and red raptor. so how much of a preformance increase is the alba raptor from the stock???

not much more performance for the price differance. Go for the 03 and put your own exhaust on it

As for the Alba Raptor its a very good improvment over stock. The problem is, they claim to sell you the bike with all this nice stuff for the same price as what you'll pay elsewhere. They add on what seems to be imaginary costs that you wouldn't normaly pay. Your $6499.00 plus tax licence doc fees etc should put you around $7200.00 out the door. Ive seen others post here about there quotes being $8200.00 out the door after costs. The pipe works great and has good sound, low end and mid range torgue and horsepower gains. It looks decent and is cheap compared to most. Comes with jets and pro flow filter. You can call them and see what they'll charge you. I'm sure they will sell you a 2003 model with their upgrades, but don't expect to pay less than $8k JMO.

There is no price difference for the Alba Raptors. They sell for the same MSRP as Yamaha. I don't know about hidden costs. Never checked into it.

For the same price - you get a full pipe, air filter and proper jetting at the very least. I'm not sure what else, except the graphics kit with the seat cover (which I have on my Raptoid)!

They are not the same price!!! You should just get a 03 and put a new exhaust and filter on that you like. The grafix kit doesnt make it perform any better and dont look good long if you ride bike hard and in woods.

He's right, the cost is different. I was going to go with an Alba Raptor, but instead bought from a local dealer (OTD was about $7200). Alba added in some hidden costs, and it was going to cost me over 8k, not including trying to figure out how to get it from LA to my house (They'd ship it for another $600). So, I was looking at closer to 9K out the door to get it shipped to my doorstep. I also requested several times that I would want to see a dyno run print out to come with the quad. I kept asking for that to be put into writing on their quote. Never did get that from them. I'm not trying to bash them, just relaying my experience to help you make an informed decision. Talk to them, get a quote, maybe somethings changed in the last few months. One thing, if you have them add any extra goodies on besides the standard Alba, get that quote faxed to you, and check it over carefully. They put wrong items down on my quote.

Good luck!

Got my Raptor for $6200 OTD. No damn way I'm gonna give them $2k more for a few gimmicks I can do myself for much cheaper. This is a marketing scam, plain and simple. That's a trap I won't fall into.

Hey cjm660 if you are ever in the need for another Raptor give JT Motorsports in Jonesboro Ark a call. He has them for 5699.00 and I only paid 5099.00 for my Z400 out the door. He also sells Honda and Polaris.
