Vilnrk,

after you talk to Sam Coe about the tranmission, I would send the tranny and have them take alook at it and see what cause it.

Look like it put extreme load on 2nd gear when drag race since you never get to 3rd gears. Maybe it put too much stress on that, (I might be wrong on that).

Good luck of rebuilting the motor....

The 2002 stock Raptor trans is weak in the 3rd gear even though 2nd gear is stronger and the gear ratios are better. It can fail almost as easily as the 2nd gear on the 2001. Be sure you do not miss a shift.

If you elect to use the Fortin gears and you are concerned about having gears that are "factory cracked" send them out and have them aircraft certified. That will tell you if they are sound before you take a chance on another engine.

Raptor720,

No offense to you personally.

WTF!!! GD, MF'n BS.

Just what I needed to hear after having Trinity build my 727 and install the 02 gear set! Again WTF!!!

What's the F'n use in having a Carillo rod installed (or any high end part for that matter), just to have another freakin weak link?

Why is that? That 3rd in the 02 is as bad as 2nd in the 01?

So is your suggestion that I tear apart my brand new, unstarted motor and replace this F'n tranny? AGAIN.

BOY, I would of hoped that SOMEONE would have opened thier mouth and said, HEY!!!! I WOULDN'T DO THAT, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GO THIS ROUTE!!!! WTF? NOBODY SAID ANYTHING, WTF?

I'm FREAKIN PISSED OFF!!!!!

Don't blow a gasket. I also use the 2002 stock trans as it is better than the 2001. Sam Coe is the one who had informed me (last week) about the 2002 problem. They had a Baja Raptor blow 3rd. Now, you must remember, SamCoe is the Company that made and sells the Fortin 2001 gears and they elected to use the 2002 gears over their own 2001 gears.

We do not know how much of a problem this is going to become. All I can say is that you MUST use the clutch to shift and if you start missing shifts, pull it down and replace the gears before you have a blow up. I am running 2002's in a 80+hp motor. I just plan on not powershifting.

You can't be pissed at Trin, me or yourself. You have the best that is available at the current time. The word on the 2002 3rd gear is only a week old to me and I don't believe that I have mentioned it to Trin. Only time will tell if anyone will make better gears for the 2002 trans. I talked to Greg Fortin directly and said that I would financially back the cost to produce the 2002 gear box if that is what it takes. I have not heard back as of yet.

720,

Thanks for the update and explaing the ENTIRE story regarding these circumstances.

Re-read your initial post and it looks ALOT DIFFERENT then your second reply.

Anyway, I appreciate you clearing that up a bit.

PLEASE, let me know PERSONALLY, if and when a SOLUTION is available, I will be in line!

Regards,
Swy
