Default Why Yamaha has not redesigned the Warrior with the WR400F engine???

This could be a very reputable quad, a redesigned Warrior with Wider stance say comparable to New Z400 and addition of the WR400F(or even the new WR450F) engine and tranny(Same as Dual Sport DirtBike 1999). The motor specs are outstanding as far as HP numbers go. Specs include:: Engine: 399cc, DOHC, 5 Valves,Liquid Cooled,4-Stroke.-- Bore &Stroke: 92.0 x 60.1-- Compression: 12.5:1(Yamaha would prob reduce to 11:1) --Carb:39mm Kehin--Tranny:Wide Ratio 5 Speed( Of course incorporate Reverse from Rappy).

Horsepower #s for the WR400F are 42-43 Hp in stock form. [L=]http://www.off-road.com/dirtbike/jun99/hobbs/[/L]

Something like this would be a major break thruogh for Yamaha in the sport market as they will never install the 426 in a production quad.

What do you guys think????????/

It will never happen, especially in the warrior frame...

Hey speaking of the new WR450F they could make minor changes like downsizing 9 or 10cc and drop copmression to 11:1(doubt they would keep 12.5:1 but who knows) and with a wider stance and new suspension this thing would put Yamaha back in the quad racing scene. And you could buy one with the engine ready to go at current 440cc rule. This would more than likely bring tons of cash back to the Yamaha market.

Here are the specs for the WR450F::
Engine Type: 449cc, liquid-cooled, 5-valve, DOHC, 4-stroke w/titanium valves
Bore x Stroke: 95 x 63.4mm
Compression Ratio: 12.5:1
Carburetion: 39mm Keihin FCR flat-slide w/throttle position sensor
Ignition: Digital CDI
Transmission: Wide-ratio, 5-speed w/multi-plate wet clutch

No,no,no....not in an actual Warrior frame....Whole new Quad design whther they call it a Warrior or not dosen't matter. Boy I wish I could be the one to go through with this Idea at Yamaha. I would undoubtably ever have to work again.

airraptor,
you hit the nail right on the head....thats exactly what I had in mind but they could still use the warrior name it would just be a redesigned model or update(New 450R Warrior!!! wouldn't that sound so sweet). Save time with comming up with a new name. The Warrior really needs some updates or just discontinue and start a new Model in its place. Although they will prolly never do it since the 450 would prob out do the Rappy in the woods and sales, unless the dunes are your cup of tea then the Rappy tourque would prob suit you best.

That thing would have so much of Yamaha's money invested in it.I don't think they could give it the name of a bike that's been in there line up for almost 20 years.I would have to believe that Yamaha would come up w/ a name that would turn peoples heads. But then again,I can't beleave that yamaha could have a bike like the Banshee and never try to mess w/ the chassie.oh-well. This sounds like a good idea, but it will never happen. I shouldn't say that it will never happen...it just won't put out that much HP. Look at the horsepower numbers and you will see why. The Warrior 450 would put out more HP than a Raptor 660! That Raptor should've been putting out 50 to 55HP stock.

Did you ever wonder why the DRZ400 dirt bike makes 40some HP and the same motor in the Z400 quad only makes 30? By rights, the Z400 should have more HP than a Raptor.

For some reason, the mfgs. compete to see who can make the most powerfull dirt bike. When it comes to the quads it goes out the window.

Has anyone ever heard of or seen a 250F or 450F series engine in a Warrior. Does anyone offer it?

Sure would be a fun project. I would love to see how it would go. The engine alone would lighten up the quad.
