Pics here http://tattnall.com/David/engine.htm

I broke my valve cover.

Shouldn't have been in a hurry or I would have seen the other two bolts covered in oil. Do you guys think that I can just JB weld that? or should I just go ahead and replace it? I hate to get into removing the rocker arms and such.

But the good news is that everything else went well. Is that wear on the pin normal wear?

Your head is a goner unless you know a good welder / machinist. The head and rocker cover are matched and machined together. I could be wrong but I'm usually not. That's a bummer.

Man that sucks yes it does look like your head is a goner

Those are some good pics of a bad situation.
My question is how did you manage to do this ?? Did you forget to tighten some of the bolts?

Ebay............................ aluminum can be welded but it aint easy and it takes somone with good skill who is used to aluminum. Best bet would be to have it welded REAL good then ground back down to perfection. I still say EBAY. Then again, im not expert on welding, and my old man is eating. I can ask if you would like though, he is a professional welder (wont touch aluminum though).

I did the same thing a while back but luckily I have some friends withh some skills. I hadone of them weld it and the other had to mill the surfaces flat again. If you can't get it done you will be paying about $500 for the whole new head

That sux Dave, On the other side of the coin, your crank rod looks perty. The picture of the welded cover, is that yours after you had it welded? Nothing warped? Will the surfaces ever match up well enough to not leak oil?

That was actually a picture of one that a guy was selling on ebay. He said that it worked fine, but he may have just been trying to pawn it off.

I am going to try it. If it doesn't work, I won't be out of anything.

Can you buy a new head from anyone that can port/polish it before shipping it?

One more thing. On the fourth picture, the motor was at TDC. Does it look like my timing chain is stretched, or is the cam in the right place?

Thanks
