Big bubba- something about all this seems a little strange to me. It seems that everyone knew more about what was going on with your quad before you did. lol I am glad that you have picked up a lot of HP and i think the price was fair.

DTR- Why did you chose to go dnojet mains and stock needles? I have run that combo a year and half ago and did not like the results. I have dyno jet mains and mukuni jets in my first 686 and did a lot better with all mukuni carb parts. Did you try just mukinu carb parts before going the other direction on big bubbas quad. Did you play with cam timing while you were dynoing?? or just carb tuning?? Thanks

Should'nt the Raptor be dyno'd in 4th gear since it's the 1/1 gear? 5th gear is under 1/1.....OVERDRIVE.

Without a brake to put a load on the engine using a higher gear for tuning would be better.

Agreed....but would'nt overall power be measured lower?

It might have a little effect on hp but on a dyno that uses only inertia to calculate output it would be very little if any. It's how fast the roller turns and how much time did it take to get it to turn that fast. Higher gearing will turn it faster but take longer, lower gearing won't turn it as fast but will get it to speed in less time. Six or half a dozen, same thing.

Thanks for the reply.
If 4th is 1/1 and 5th is .8/1 (hypothetically)......and the dyno measures 50 horses in 4th...then 5th would measure 40..right? Anything over 1/1 is gaining power through gearing and anything under 1/1 is loosing power.

Not on a dyno that uses only inertia for a measurement.
Example: these are just numbers for my sorry attempt at an explanation
4th= 1000 RPM roller speed and takes 2 seconds to get there= less speed, faster time=50hp
5th= 2000 RPM roller speed and takes 4 seconds to get there= more speed, longer time=50hp
