New 400cc Tank Scout Arrived

I think you may be confusing cynicism with thinking realistically. I read more about OHV land being closed off for plants and animals than parks being maintained. Check with your state representative as to just how "protected" those funds really are.
As far as being a cheap ***, the current administration surely appreciates all those who do not question why they are taking money and where it is really going.

Hate to sound like an as$ but I think we need a moderator to clean up this "Tank Scout 400 review" or start a new thread about registering atv's.
I'm sharing my experience so people can have some knowledge on this atv not to debate why and who thier cash is going to when they pay registration fees.....
Thanks

Well that's great that the parts are actually the same!!! I wonder if the gear sets are the same in the diff. or the clutch pack in the trans. Hopefully you won't have to find out!!
If you run this thing a guy should probably check the valve clearances after a few hundered miles like they tell you to do on the Yamaha's. I haven't checked the valve clearances on my Yamaha 350 yet.

Ya, I was pretty happy that I was able to buy them through Yamaha. I just never realized how cheap they were made until I put them next to the yamaha parts. I guess it's better than not being able to but replacement parts at all. At least when I need to buy them they are being replaced with better quality. Not sure about the gear sets or clutch pack. I was hoping that "Jianshe400" here on the boards would go that route with the clutch so we could find out for sure. I will probably get another 100 miles on the atv as long as I don't run into any major issues and bring the atv to yamaha for valve adjustment
Heck we'll talk ya through the valve adjustment!! NOt that big of deal, just on some of these newer quads its getting to the valves that is a pain with all the plactic covers, fuel tanks and such in the way!
Also some of the chinese parts I've found that replacements in some cases are better too. ON the 110 atv I have (shaft drive) that same boot crapped out. The replacement I found was much better than the original one it had on it.
I'm going to get a manual for my 350 online here as I have to get around to checking mine one of these days as I got like 600 mile on it now I think!

I am very curious to see what the boot looks like that Tank Sports is sending me as replacement. Wonder if it will be the same as the one I removed or built better

Tank did move locations just a couple months ago, so I don't think they are bankrupt or they would not be able to secure new leasing agreements. Plus they would not have updated their official information with the Secretary of State and DMV if they were going bust.

I guess the slogan "You get what you pay for" applies when you but one of these atv's. lol It's not always safe to buy anything just on appearance. A review like this will make alot of other people think twice before buying one. There are positives and negatives of this atv. Parts are readily available through Yamaha but then again who wants to be replacing parts on a brand new atv???

There is really only one key thing to remember. It is the cause and there is one effect.
Parts and build quality are poor. This leads to premature failure of components which requires wrenching the thing alot more than a major brand. Really it is that simple.
You have been very lucky to find so easily replacement parts that match those of major brands. I think it is a big mystery and black hole for most of us. You can see by how many posts there are related to "what part do I buy to fix this thing?"
One other mention is resale on a chinese quad is substantially less than a major brand. You might find someone who is clueless but most buyers are reasonably aware of quality issues of chines quads and a used one certainly is not going to be less of headache than even a new one, so actual sell price is likely to reflect that. Don't mean to sound negative but just something to think about.
