New 400cc Tank Scout Arrived

What I found quite disturbing upon detailed inspection was the connectors are also not nearly as water resistant as they seem. They have "rubber" boots over the connectors but they don't keep water out.
Found the hard way when running one through some puddles then having it start stalling out. After a lot of wire tugging discovered a little water had shorted out a connector.
I've thought about how to better seal up the connectors but never did decide on how to tackle that problem. What I think still seems most effective is getting some of that special waterproof electrical tape. It is sort of expensive but high quality stretchy rubber. Seem like wrapping the wire bundle and the connector with that stuff would keep all water out.

After months of waiting today a USED cylinder head arrives from Tank Sports. I don't know if I should be happy or mad. It's used and who knows if it is any good. I was so shocked I even recieved the part. Once again I get one that is damaged. I have no clue why they waste their shipping money. All I can do is laugh now. I have no anger left inside me. Now just waiting for the clutch, lenses, controls, boots, seals ect... Looks like Motor Vehicle gave them the nudge they needed to get rolling or maybe Jim had no excuses left for me.

Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes. Thanks

No, it is a housing with 3 screws going into it on the bottom right of the motor. You will see 2 oil lines coming out of it going to your oil cooler up front. If you unbolt the housing and separate it the strainer style oil filter will fall out or be laying inside

Ya make sure you change the main oil filter next time you change the oil. I believe you could also clean it if you wanted instead. All it is is a metal strainer style filter. I replaced mine with the yamaha one after my last oil change. The original one had mounds of metal shavings on it from the engine breaking in.

Geez! The broken cooling fin on that replacement cyl head looks worse than the broken fin already on your machine! Either way, I wouldn't sweat the busted fin. I'd just take a die grinder to it, even that fin out and call it good.
