That boot shouldn't crack that fast!!! The cheap chinese rubber is know for that. If you do take it apart yourself I'd look and see if you can find another source for that boot. Be it directly from Jianshee or Yamaha. I suspect you would have to R&R the swing arm assmembly. As it looks the other end attaches right to the Trans housing. Also check to make sure the vent tuble for your Diff. and or trans is not plugged or kinked or something. What does the oil smell like? Looks like Gear oil by how thick it is on your trailer. If so then its coming from your diff. As the Trans is lubed with engine oil if its like my Yamaha. A bit of oil/grease in there is probably not a bad thing to keep the splines lubed etc. Is your diff. oil level down any?

That is really frusterating!! My NEW Yamaha which cost double of what you paid developed a leaking rear axel seal (independent rear suspension set up). It leaked after the 80 miles if that. Anyway a hauled it in for Warranty which took 10 days. I got it back and it still seems to be leaking but not as bad!!!!! Now its off warranty as its only 6 months. So I guess I'll be doing it myself now.

Well that sucks!! The Chinese arent known for good rubber products...From what Ive heard the Chinese leave out a fairly expensive chemical that makes the rubber last longer than a few months...Just another thing on a Chinese quad that only looks the part.

I agree with Sawyer..look for some Japanese made replacements..

I'm still waiting for a response from Tank but nothing yet. I haven't heard from them since last tuesday. I am guessing that today is probably their first day back since the holiday. Hopefully they can help me out here is some way. I am going to go to the Yamaha dealer tomorrow with to buy the seal and front and rear boots for an 00-06 Big Bear 400. They are supposed to be exactly the same. I am so pissed off. This isn't a 10 minute repair. I have to remove the rear swing arm and disassemble most of the rear of the atv. Still no parts or partial refund from them as of today also. Starting to get aggrivated, I haven't left them any feedback on ebay yet and payed with paypal so I am guessing I probably have some leverage on them right now lol I'll give them a chance to straighten it out though before I go either of those routes

I would only replace stuff that is broke for now unless it looks bad. IF you go here http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_sectio...2003&fveh=1144 this should be a 2003 big bear 400 rear arm and boot. Is this what yours looks like?? You may want to take the old one off and compare it with a new yamaha one to be sure.

Thanks for the link. The only reason I said I was going to replace the other boot also was because if it decides to crack on me I am going to be pulling that rear swing arm off all over again and i'm sure it's not going to be fun.

Oh I can't remember the set up on that one. But yes if you have it apart already and there is another boot there that can be changed while its apart sounds likea good plan.

Maybe you posted it already but does the plate on the frame say Jianshe on it? If not what factory was it made in? As we all know how China puts out copies ... of copies sort of. Or mixes and matches parts and suppliers for ATVs ... and they all still look the same but really their not! It would be like saying a Jetmoto 150 is the same as all the 150s from China. Yes its like them but not exactly!

I remember a few years back Baja was selling the Jianshee 250 2 wheel drive ATV which was a Yamah Bear tracker copy. I talked to the shop that serviced Bajas for the local big box store that sold them. He was telling me the Jianshe 250's were pretty trouble free and said he'd own one. Then Baja switch suppliers, quad still "looked the same" however it was made at a different factory (not Jianshe) and it had problem areas that gave grief.

Check out http://www.jiansheamerica.com/ I see they have a couple 400's looks like an old version and new version. Plus I see they now have a 250 sport quad out that looks good.

Jianshee also has a pretty good owners/parts/service manual you can download http://www.jiansheamerica.com/produc...e%20Manuel.pdf
