If you want to save money buy a used brand name. A used ten year old Snap-On is still a better wrench.
You are right about that but the way I saw it was Jianshe is made by Yamaha. Jianshe was Yamaha's way of marketing their products over in China from Japan. I got a good feeling about the machine before buying it from the few reviews I would find on them. I expected a machine that I would have to check over and maintain very well to make last but never expected the issues I am having this soon. I feel ripped off now and the support and broken promises I am getting from them just plain out suck

Just because something comes out of China it doesn't mean its crap. Heck I think all the brand name cordless power tools at home depot come from China. You can buy a 18 volt cordless drill for $20 bucks or $200 and they both come from China!

Hey if I was told it was a Jianshe atv I would probably have bit too on it. Like I said the Jianshe quads I looked at up here were pretty nice and have a good rep. They had proper functioning suspension,( unlike some cheapo chinese 4x4's I saw) the wiring looked good, controls looked good, plastic and so on. I will say though that looking at your pictures of your handle bars the controls are different then the one I saw up here. I suspect Jianshe must have different quality of ATV's too for different markets around the world.

What ever the case you need your money back or this quad back on the road to do some ATVing!!! As who in the hell wants to fix on it more then you ride it!!

The kids little Jetmoto 150 could use some TLC now after 2 years, the chain is stretched out, could use some new rear brake pads, and the front susupension could use some new bushings. But at least they got a lot of use out if before it needed some work. So far I'm still happy with it for what we paid for it. I'm kicking myself on that damn Ducar 110cc I bought in 2005!!! Paid too much for the damn thing and spent far too much time fixing it so it would work properly. I will say now that 4 years later its in better working condition then when I bought it new!!! Now the kids have out grown it and don't use it much. They ride the Honda 250 and the Jetmoto 150.

lowbudget,

Im sorry to hear of your troubles but I had a feeling this was going this route in your first couple posts. If an ATV wont hold up to being shipped its not going to hold up to the abuse of riding......that was quite a few broken parts right off the bat.

I have a feeling that an azz over tea kettle tumble down a hill would likely render this atv worthless......while Ive kicked my old Honda over on its wheels and drove off many times.

Dont think Im bagging on Chinese stuff....cause I own 2 quads and a kart made in China.....and not even one of the better companies. But these are kids toys made for a yard.....and thats where I think my loyalty to Chinese power sports ends. Once my son got fast, confident and started to hit jumps and some mud.....Chinese quads stopped holding up.....I was replacing stuff every ride. Got him a 1988 (thats over 20 years old) Suzuki LT80 and havent turned a wrench on it in the year hes owned it. While my daugter (whos only 3) happily putters away on her Kazuma....again, in the yard I think they are great......but in my experience they just dont hold up past that. Once she gets better.....out goes the Kazuma.

Ive found in alot of cases Im better off buying a lesser but better built machine....but then again Im preaching to the choir at this point.

I do hope you get your problems sorted out.....my advice, try to unload this cheaply on Craigslist and try again.

I did do some searching and found this info on a Yamaha page:

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. recently established a new motorcycle marketing company in Shanghai, which is slated to begin operation on May 26, 2004. It will market Yamaha-brand motorcycles, provide after-sales service, and sell spare parts in China. The new company, to be known as Yamaha Jianshe Motor Shanghai Marketing Co.,Ltd. is capitalized at US$4 million (approx. 420 million yen), with 30% ownership by Yamaha Motor; 55% by Chongqing Jianshe-Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (“Jianshe-Yamaha”), a joint-venture company for the manufacture and sales of motorcycles in China; and 15% by Jianshe Industries (Group) Co., Ltd. (“Jianshe Industries”), the business partner with whom Yamaha Motor founded Jianshe-Yamaha.

....manufacturing complete Yamaha-brand motorcycles independently, and using its own sales routes for product sales and after-sales service.

I cut that second part out mid paragraph....the way I see it is Yamaha has NOTHING to do with these quads. They are making them indepent of Yamaha.....selling them indepent of Yamaha and servicing them independent of Yamaha.....they only have Yamaha attached to them in name only. So basically the equivalent of taking a Sharpie and writing Yamaha on a turd for marketing purposes.....

Thanks for the input Aaron. I am going to try to buy the seals at Yamaha Monday and at least repair the rear seal and boot then post it up on craigslist. It's been another 3 days of no reply from Tank-Sports so I guess I should start hunting for the parts. Today I left them the negative feedback they deserved on ebay and am going to start the paypal claim. I think i've been more than fair and allowed them more than enough time to make things right. I am probably going to start a write-up on ripoffreport.com also to make others aware of Tank-Sports

Surely if you fix those problems, adjust the clutch and change the oil you should be relatively conscious free unloading it on Craigslist.....I would be.

Have you tried adjusting the clutch yet? If so how did it work out?

I am busy with showings on my house all weekend (trying to keep my garage clean). We can't be at the house while the realtors bring the potential buyers. Had 4 today and my wife and I viewed a few houses for sale also so I barely have any time to even work on this thing. I'm going to bring it into work early this week and start tearing it down. I'll keep everyone updated though

Good luck when you get around to it....there are good deals on good wheelers out there and this is the time to be buying.

Maybe I'm a sucker for punishment I don't know but I think I would give it another try after you repair it. But then I'm comparing to what they sell for up here, over $5K! Like I mentioned my new Yamaha leaked too and needed a seal replaced and it had a dealer PDI and everything done at Yamaha and the damn thing still leaks! I was an automotive tech years back and new cars had problems too. How ever from what you guys are saying used big name quads are selling real cheap in the US these days. So I can certainly see you wanting to just unload it and move on.

I may but I need to figure out the clutch issue because as of now the atv is embarrassing to ride with the name brand guys. Underpowered and won't climb hills that my nephews 110cc tao tao could probably climb. Everyone went riding this weekend and once again I could not go partly because of my busy schedule currently but mainly because of the lack of replacement parts I should of recieved weeks ago from Tank-Sports. Talk about aggrivating....I not only am dealing with 3 different guys from Tank-Sports but haven't heard from any of them since last tuesday. I am getting doubtful that any of this will ever get resoved and I will ever recieve my parts. I get so disqusted everytime I walk by the atv in the garage.

I can buy a 2007+ 400cc IRS Big Bear for $3500 now around here so that was my main reason for just selling it.

Man prices are cheap down there.

A couple years ago when the Canadian dollar was on par or a bit above the US Dollar everyone was going across the boarder to the US to by ATVs, bikes, boats, skidoos etc. as you could save like 3 to $5K on a bigger ATV.
