So i was teaching my son how to ride the manual clutch.... some how he put it in R???? I hopped on it all the way up is R and it worked... When putting it back in the garage wouldnt go back into R. Has to be something loose in the tranny that wont allow it to go in R. I dont want to rip it apart just for R since it really does run great as it is ( with no R). Some thoughts?

I bet that was exciting..

If I had to guess Id say the shift drum is worn and doesnt move freely to engage reverse.. If you wanted a cheap attempt at fixing it.. buy a qt of motorcycle type synthetic engine oil.. Amsoil, Bel Ray, Torco, etc... Its more than engine oil and is made to help out the clutch and shifting..
