most of the time, worn sheeves are considered a wear item... but dealers have quite a bit of leaway & if you dealer is difficult to work with, you'll likely end up buying new sheeves...

4 belts in less than 1000 miles and worn out sheaves?!
Man, that's too many! What do you do with your bike? Pulling a log in mud with the gear in High range? Make sure your belt deflection is at minimal with your new belt.

Default belt help

I also had a friend that was going through belts with his 02 P650. We did find the Primary (Front) clutch worn and the movable sheeve would wobble. We replaced it with a new Kawasaki factory one. Cost was about $420.00

Default belt help

When I went to the Rocky Mtn ATV jamboree in UT last month, I met up with a whole bunch of P650/700 owners and a lot of them still had the same factory installed belt with 1000~2000 miles. And they were still running good. We went on a 100 mile long group ride and we even exchanged the ride. However, there was a couple of young guys who had to replace the belt before 1000 and they admitted they abused it. I guess it all depends how you use it.

I just replaced my stock belt with a p700, I got 4000 miles out of my stockie and now it is my backup. My friend also has his stock belt in and its at about 3000 miles.
