I am eighteen and i live in Indiana and I would like to know if you can make money racing in xc. I have a yfz and i am the best rider out of all my friends! 2 have z400, 1 has a pred and 1 has a 660 rap. Every weekend they all come to my house no matter what the weather is and race in my 65 acre woods. All my friend are good riders and everyweekend I usually win. I no i have a little advantage but not much they ride in my woods just as much as i do. Anyways back to my question is there money in racing?

only if your a pro and have the speed to win......and then it dont pay for the things that can break or the entry fees if you dont place in the top three. i race pro in the local series, not for the money though. your looking at 100 to 175 bucks for 1st place a race if enough pros are there to enter. if you can be consistint and win like bill balance you might could make a career out of it.

stalli, yea theres money in it, mostly YOUR money. lol. like reconbasher said if your as good as ballance and some of the other top dogs, then yea you can probably make a living. if you want to see just how good you are, go to a big race and enter the A class. then you'll see what ya have.

Even the factory backed guys arent making all that much. The sport isnt that popular and there is no TV contract so there isnt much money flowing through. The promoters of the events are making the most money, but taking the biggest risks as well.
I dont care if you are as good as Gust, you dont have much of a shot at the big time. Even well known riders have a lot of difficulty landing enough sponsorship to keep racing.
