The lectron carb has the best bang for the buck. The buck is not a light on though. You will need to change the thumb throttle, to be able to crack the carb open all the way.
A lot of people have fought with throttle tension with this carb, myself included. The best thing to get by this is some time and re-search. Set of the thumb throttle right (remove the spring in it), route the cable correctly (very important), keep the cable clean and lubed (the carb and cable can get dirt and moister in them and the slide will corode and stick).
Once you get it set up right you will love it. It make my bike sing like a 2-stroke.
One final note.
You can't get better customer service anywhere out there then Eric and his staff provide @ Mr. HP

Hang on stop the credit card swip....Hang on stop the credit card swipe
Hold the press'
I owned one on my DS650 04, what it's good for...All out drag racing wide open sand riding it perfect....
What it's not good for...Tight woods riding trail riding you loose low end but gain unbelevable top end.
The carb suck will not go away and yes it is a serious problem, many who sell it even MrHP(Good Guy) will try to tell you if you do this or that it will help it, well....it may on a scale 1-10 help it a 1 but nothing noticable change to help it, it just is a carb problem design that will not go away, so ask yourself...
If you can ride well with a twist throttle you will be fine, not in tight woods riding though.
If you want to run a thumb throttle thats fine you have to buy a aftermarket one that will work but your thumb it take a beatin I mean a beatin.
For low end grunt it's hard to beat the factory carb. With all my mods I went back to the factory carb, yes I don't have the top end of the 44HV but I sure got better low end grunt with alot ease in riding it. So hope the best for you, I sold mine on Ebay for $400.00.

the HV will pull mid to high but the factory carb has it beat hands down on lowend. If you ride wide open most of the time the HV can work for you, if not the carb could be a dissappointment for you for the carb Suck as we call it sucks period, if it wasn't for that I would have kept it on my DS.
